If you love adventure? Rishikesh is the place to be.
Must Do’s in Rishikesh
- Camping by the Ganges.
- White Water River Rafting.
- Bungee Jumping.
- Giant Swing.
- Flying Fox.
- Treks to the waterfall.
- Holi in Rishikesh.
We started our trip early morning and it was a 27 hour long train journey. But it didn’t feel like one. The Indian railways have improved so much, Impressive!
This was my first trip with friends 1000 miles away! 🙂 ❤
Mumbai→Haridwar→Rishikesh→Dehradun
The moment you enter Rishikesh, this divine little world, you can feel your inner self more communicative than ever. This is probably why most individuals give in to their inner desires while treading in the Himalayan foothills besides river Ganges. It is renowned as a center for studying Yoga and Meditation, equally popular for Pilgrimage and Adventure Sports. Tourists are mainly in their 20’s and 30’s. They seem to make it their second home for a long period of time, practice yoga and return back to their home country.
Places to see in Rishikesh & Haridwar
- Ram Jhula
- Lakshman Jhula
- Muni Ki Reti
- Triveni Ghat
- Har Ki Pauri
- Beatles Ashram
Ram Jhula and Lakshman Jhula both are iron suspension bridge across the river Ganges. These two bridges are nearly identical in appearance and design, but Ram Jhula actually is a bit bigger. One marvellous piece of Architecture. It offers spectular view of the holy city bustling with energy.
If you happen to visit Ram Jhula, dont forget to savour the local food. Explore that foodie in you 😉
Planning to Camp by the Ganges?
You gotta stay here – The Adventure Journey; Camp River Connect, Gujjar Dera
It’s 25 kilometres from Rishikesh. Tuk-Tuk to the rescue!
To get to the Swiss tents, you literally need to trek down a steep mountain which gets you to a mini island. From there they take you go by a raft. And Bammnh!
In the night they have bonfire and the moonlight makes it magical.
P.S. Do not forget to carry bluetooth speakers.
The service was great being it far far away from the market and the food served was comfort food.
White Water River Rafting
Imagine freezing water trying to push you off the raft like a bull does to a cowboy. Rapids can turn your raft upside down but are the most exciting part of white water river rafting! There are different types of rapids. We witnessed the most scary ones; The Three blind mice, Roller coaster and Black money.
Holi in the streets of Rishikesh is sheer madness! People are very welcoming. We actually crashed a holi party and danced our hearts out. It’s unreal how the non-nationals are super enthusiastic about the festival. And no holi party is complete without bhang and some dhol dhamaka. Altogether it was a blast.
Jumpin Heights
Book in advance!
India’s first extreme adventure zone. They have three activities – Giant Swing, Bungee Jumping and Flying fox. Take the plunge! Once in a lifetime opportune.
Best place for all the adventure junkies, This year has too many long weekends. Grab on! Visit Rishikesh and witness it yourself! 😉
